Methadone Advocacy in Pittsburgh
In December 2025, UPMC closed the Narcotic Addiction Treatment Program (NATP), a methadone program in Wilkinsburg that had served hundreds of clients for decades. This closure came with only a few weeks’ notice for clients and staff.
The Pennsylvania Methadone Advocacy Group has mobilized a response, including:
An open letter to UPMC calling for it to re-open a methadone program
A one-page advocacy sheet
A commitment to continued community organizing around this issue
